The IPOD module provides the power interface between the logical injection command (INJ), delivered by the ICU (Injection Control Unit), and the injector solenoid. The WINIPOD software manages all the parameters, currents, times and voltages needed to drive the injector correctly. This is done through a serial link (RS 232). This software runs under WINDOWS 95/98 or later. System description This sytem includes up to three boards : a power board, a control and setting board and, as an option, a high voltage board. This module comes in a 3U, 21 Te subrack format and up to 4 modules can be fitted into a standard 3U 19" 8252 rack. The front panel features the following elements: a 25-pin Sub-D connector for monitoring signals : time controls, current and voltage waveforms. a banana connector (4 mm) for ground reference. 4 Leds : INJ (logical opening injector command) ; ERR (error); ZEV> ; ZEV< (injector impedence surveillance). Optional : a 9-pin Sub-D connector for the RS-232 C serial link. a 4-pin Jaeger female socket to connect the injector (otherwise, this connection is on the rear panel), a 3-pin Jaeger male socket to connect the battery simulator (otherwise, this connection is on the rear panel). Principle The IPOD is powered by a DC voltage (battery voltage simulator 8319) which may range from 10 to 35 V. This voltage is connected either to the rear panel, or, as an option, to a 3-pin Jaeger connector on the front panel. The injector is connected either to the rear panel, or, as an option, to a 4-pin Jaeger connector on the front panel. The IPOD requires two logical signals in order to generate injections. The first one is a selector signal allowing the module to control the second signal "INJ". This is useful for multi-injector systems. For example, a 6-cylinder motor needs an injection every 60? A pulse generator may be used to generate the right frequency for all the "INJ" signals. Then the selector signal enables the IPOD corresponding to the right cylinder.
