Edible pine Nut Oil Description

Edible pine nut oil contains pine nut oil which is prepared from pine nut(Korea Pine) produced in Changbai mountain. Pine nut has been considered as health protection food since ancient time in Korea, Japan and China. In Chinese famous ancient medical book named Compendium of Material Medical written by Li Shizhen, pine nut was considered to be beneficial to human body. In Korea, there was a proverb that good wife should persuade her husband to eat pine nut. Pine nut has been widely studied recently, especially in Japan. Many functions of pine nut were found. The product has been certificated by FDA and gain the national patent.
1. Ingredients of pine nut.
According to our research and published data, Pine nut oil contains vitamine A and E, polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA), especially a special POFA, named pinolenic acid (5,9,12-18:3 acid) which takes 15-18percent. It also contains 5,11-20:2,5,11,14 -20:3, 5, 11,12,15-18:4 acid in small amount.
It is reported that extract of pine nut contained 24 resinacids which inhibit representative mold, sapstain and woody-decay fungi.
2. Medical functions of pine nut oil
The discovery of essentiality of long-chain PUFA was made by Burr in 1929. At that time, essentiality meant promotion of growth and prevention of dermatitis observed when a fat-free diet was fed to rats. The importance of PUFA to human health is widely accepted nowadays.
Pinolenic acid has similar structure and functions with 42691-linolenic acid. 42691-linolenic acid and others PUFA excert several important metabolic functions after conversion to eicosanoids. However, Excessive or imbalanced production of specific eicosanoids is closely related to incidence of various degenerative disease. Because of existing unsaturated bond on 5 position, pinolenic acid is hardly converted to prostaglandins. So pinolenic acid is more safe to human body. It is reported that pinolinicacidn could decrease TC, TG and blood pressure.
